Robert Gallery, the second overall pick in 2004 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, is retiring, says Adam Caplan.
Gallery, who was in camp with the New England Patriots this summer, was regarded as a can't miss prospect and a cornerstone left tackle when the Raiders drafted him, but while he became a serviceable starter, he never lived up to his draft selection and was moved to guard in 2007.
Gallery had surgery on his groin last season. He spent seven years in Oakland and played last season with the Seattle Seahawks.
Also, fullback Tony Fiammetta has left the Patriots, who signed ex-Bucs running back Kareem Huggins and defensive back Derrick Martin.
