Urban Meyer landed one of the best prospects in Chicago on Thursday, as offensive tackle Jamarco Jones gave his verbal pledge to Ohio State.

The Class of 2014 product from De La Salle Institute in the Windy City committed to the Buckeyes over offers from Michigan State and Michigan, the two other favorites for his pledge, as well as Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State and others.

The 6-4, 300-pounder will join a strong Buckeyes 2014 class, which includes fellow offensive linemen Marcelys Jones and Kyle Trout. The Chicagoan is one of the best players in Illinois and one of the better offensive tackles in the country. It's a big "get" for Meyer, who wanted to make a late splash with offensive tackles this past February but wasn't able to do so.

The Buckeyes need depth along the offensive line, as the unit will lose four starters following the 2013 season.
