Urban Meyer found his quarterback of the future in the Class of 2014, as Stephen Collier gave his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Friday night.

After Buckeyes targets Zack Darlington and Rafe Peavey no longer were in the mix to head to Columbus, Collier became the top target for the Buckeyes, and he committed to Ohio State on the spot after being offered a scholarship. He picked OSU over Wake Forest and Cincinnati, and he also had interest from programs such as Alabama and Florida State.

The 6-3, 205-pound pocket passer from Lee County High School (Leesburg, GA) had gone a bit under the radar up until this past spring, when he was very impressive on the camp circuit. Those performances led him to earn an invite to the Elite 11 Quarterback camp in Oregon at the end of this month as well as numerous scholarship offers from other programs. In particular, Collier impressed Meyer and his staff when he threw at Ohio State a few weeks ago.

Collier is considered a strong leader and very good decision-maker with good accuracy. Last year as a junior he passed for 1,887 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 485 yards and 11 scores.
