ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday with a sprained left ankle.

Coach Josh McDaniels said Orton's availability for Sunday's pivotal contest with San Diego will come down to a game-time decision.
Backup Chris Simms again took first-team practice repetitions, as he has all week in the absence of Orton, who was injured during last week's 27-17 loss at Washington.
Simms is in line to make his first start since September 2006, when he suffered a life-threatening spleen injury while with Tampa Bay.
McDaniels says Orton would be put through a workout before Sunday's game and how he performs will determine whether he plays.

The Broncos started 6-0 with a miracle, a offensive pass interference no-call and some kick returns. The team could be 3-6 easily. The rest of the league took 6 weeks to break down the schemes and the rest will be history. No one knew what they were facing with new defense and offense. If Denver is 6-5 the day after Thanksgiving no one outside of Denver will be surprised. The 30 somethings on defense are looking old and tired. Orton looks more like Griese every week. Great stats that add up to nothing. Grouse about Cutler all you want, he is struggling in Chicago right now but he is still developing, Orton is as good as he will ever get.
