Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels has been cleared medically by Dr. James Andrews who repaired Daniels' torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Daniels isn't expected to play in any preseason games. He's targeting the Texans' season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
“It was good news," Texans coach Gary Kubiak said in remarks distributed by the team. "Owen has been cleared and is totally healthy. He’s fired up and it’s great for our team and the team knows it. We’re looking for him to get back. He should be ready to go next week.”
Kubiak said the team is proud of Daniels' comeback.
“It means a great deal," Kubiak said. "He’s a fine player. He’s a good young man. He’s what we stand for as a team and for our players to see what he’s been through and to see how disappointing for him to have this setback, now he’s going to be there opening day. Just tells you a lot about what he’s all about.”
