Owners will convene in Indianapolis for spring meeting Monday

The NFL will get down to business next week in Indianapolis with the spring owners meeting, which will go on despite the lockout.

It’s the first time the city has ever hosted an owners meeting, but the league typically has the spring meeting where the upcoming Super Bowl will be played and Lucas Oil Stadium is the site of Super Bowl XLVI.

You have the business of getting on with business,” Colts owner Jim Irsay told Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star. “That's what the league is doing. When (the labor dispute) ends, we're off and running.”

Committee meetings will begin Monday night and the meetings are expected to continue into Wednesday with commissioner Roger Goodell delivering an update on the labor situation at some point. The owners will vote on proposed rule changes, most of which involve player safety.

It’s too bad all of the news is happening completely away from the field as we march closer to June, the month in which offseason workout programs end in regular years.
