The Green Bay Packers were awarded wide receiver-tight end Chris Harper off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers.
They cut runnnig back Michael Hill to create a roster spot for Harper.
A fourth-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks from Kansas State, Harper is a 6-foot, 234-pounder who was signed by the 49ers off the Seahawks' practice squad.
He played in no games for the 49ers, though, after they experimented with him at tight end.
The Packers have now picked up a three-year contract with minimum base salaries and $202,000 guaranteed of his $405,000 base salary this season.
Harper runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and caught 123 passes for 1,734 yards and 12 touchdowns at Kansas State.
The biggest knock on Harper is what is he? Is he a small tight end or a big wide receiver?
