Packers lose CB, turn to indoor league for help

Josh Bell placed on IR Brad Biggs

The Green Bay Packers don’t have a lot of depth at cornerback and it’s already being tested.

Josh Bell was placed on injured reserve after suffering a foot injury in the team’s intrasquad scrimmage. Instead of filling his spot with a cornerback, Green Bay signed a linebacker, another position that has been thinned out a little bit by injuries. Clay Matthews is expected to miss a couple weeks with a pulled hamstring.

Added to the roster was Maurice Simpkins, a linebacker from Coastal Carolina who played for the Green Bay Blizzard in the Indoor Football League. Talk about a shot at going to the big time.
