The Green Bay Packers denied Ben McAdoo an opportunity to interview for the offensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins and that’s because they had plans for him.
McAdoo was moved from tight ends coach to quarterbacks coach, replacing Tom Clements, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator after Joe Philbin departed to become the coach of the Dolphins.
Per Tom Silverstein’s report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also wanted to interview McAdoo. He receives a two-year contract and a bump in pay, but probably not what he would have received as a first-time coordinator.
There is a solid list of tight ends coaches who have advanced through the Green Bay coaching tree. Andy Reid, Mike Sherman and Pat Shurmur all rose through the ranks to become head coaches in the NFL.
“If you believe in that model, you know that Ben will do a great job," McAdoo’s agent Bob LaMonte told Silverstein. "I consider the mold to be Andy Reid and Mike Sherman and Pat Shurmur, guys who were tight ends coaches who moved up. Ben McAdoo is very similar to them."

Wonder if Erin Rodgers is crying about that since he mouthed off that wanted a coach who played the position. Hey Rodgers - coaches coach and players play so shut the hell up and play.
