The Green Bay Packers were busy today.

They signed defensive tackle Ryan Pickett, the team's franchise player, to a four-year, $28 million deal that includes $10 million in the first year and also agreed to terms on a three-year, $24.3 million deal with safety Nick Collins.

"We have continued to talk to Ryan and his representatives and are pleased we were able to sign Ryan to this extension," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said. "He has been a key part of our success on defense, and we look forward to having Ryan be a part of our future in Green Bay."

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Collins will be paid $14 million during the first year of his contract.

It doesn't appear to be a coincidence that the deal followed a good-will gesture from Collins, who has intercepted 13 passes over the past two seasons, when he inked his restricted free agent tender.

Awesome! There's no reason Ted couldn't sign them since he's been saving money since he's been with GB.

Now Ted needs to find T, S, CB, RB, OLB & a DE in the draft.

Excellent decision that positions Packers very well if (and hopefully when) the cap comes back. This is another of a series of moves that does nothing but send positive vibes from GB to any player. Practice hard, produce on the field, be a team player and you will be rewarded. This sets a great example for any organization by "promoting from within" instead of throwing dollars at outsiders. I am waiting for TT to continue to pick the best available players in the draft, it looks to be a deep one. Congrats and thanks to TT and both MM's!

I'm sure Darryn Colledge is PO'd! The should offer him a 5 year 5 mill contract. Lower than he is making on he tender.
