Carolina Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, coach Ron Rivera announced.

Johnson has a sprained right knee suffered on a leg whip from New England Patriots offensive tackle Marcus Cannon on Monday night. Johnson leads the Panthers with 8 1/2 sacks.

"Well, more than likely,'' Rivera said Thursday when asked if Johnson was out for Sunday. "It's one of those things we'll see how he is tomorrow. I was a little discouraged today because he didn't go out on the field earlier. He has gotten better each day. But again, you like to have guys out as soon as possible and go from there.''
