The Carolina Panthers picked rookie quarterback Tony Pike to be their No. 3 behind Jimmy Clausen. That much was made clear when the club announced that Hunter Cantwell was one of the cuts.

Also let go in final cuts to reach the 53-man limit were offensive linemen Rob Petitti, Ray Hisatake and Andrew Crumme, wide receiver Trent Guy, fullback Rashawn Jackson, running backs Dantrell Savage and Josh Vaughan, tight end Jamie Petrowski, defensive linemen Corvey Irvin, Tank Tyler and Eric Moore, linebackers Quinton Culberson, Mortty Ivy and Sean Ware and defensive backs R.J. Stanford, C.J. Ware and Brian Witherspoon.

The team also placed guards C.J. Davis and Duke Robinson and safety Aaron Francisco on injured reserve.
