Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers starting offense haven't exactly lit it up in preseason thus far.
In fact, they have given up as many touchdowns (one, on an interception return) as they have scored in preseason thus far. And the lone TD produced by the offense came from just 18 yards out after the defense forced a turnover of its own.
So, even though it is still preseason when the Panthers battle the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens tonight, a little bit more than the usual will be riding on the game for Newton and the Carolina offense, says the Charlotte Observer.
“That’s been a focus this week,” Newton said. “We play for getting down into situations where we can score points – and by points, I mean six points. It just takes a little bit of focus on my part where I’m putting he ball in places where my guys can have a chance.”
Keep in mind that it is just preseason, and everything starts for real in two weeks, but the Panthers still would like to see the offense flourish before things really start to count in the standings.
