When it comes to the labor strife surrounding the NFL owners and the players' union, both sides are muscling for position when it comes to the public relations aspect of the dispute.

And solidarity is the buzzword for each side as they make their respective cases to the public.

So, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's remarks about the owners' collective mindset don't come as a surprise.

"Probably the most important thing about this league meeting that's different than other years is that we continue to have a very united ownership," Kraft told the Boston Globe. "This is my 17th season, and I've never seen ownership as united on any issue as we are on this issue. We have a great sport, and we have to be smart enough to allow the league to grow for the players and the fans.'

A potential lockout in 2011 looms.

Although most expect there to be football in 2011 with a deal worked out at the 11th hour on a new collective bargaining agreement, there's a significant divide to be bridged.

“I just think everyone understands we have something special,’’ Kraft said. “We’ve got to get it right, so it works long-term. And it’s amazing now, the small-market teams, the big-market teams, the middle range, there’s a consistency in thought.

“I’ve never seen that kind of unity. That’s good for the game. We’re not together for confrontation. We want what’s best for the NFL.’’

Didn't Barzini say the Five Families were united as never before?
