The Patriots signed undrafted free agent nose guard Rashad Anthony White, a rookie from Michigan State who was formerly on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

They changed gears after agreeing to a contract with former North Carolina Central defensive tackle John Drew for undisclosed reasons. There's been speculation that Drew wasn't signed due to a off-field issues involving a non-violent crime gun charge in college that could have given the Patriots some public relations problems in light of former tight end Aaron Hernandez being cut from the team after being arrested on murder charges and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard being arrested for suspicion of drunk driving.

White had a prior stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers before being cut from their injured reserve list.
