Patriots list Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski as doubtful

It appears the Patriots will have to wait at least one more week before Rob Gronkowski gets back on the football field.

The Patriots listed the start tight end as doubtful as he continues to recover from offseason back surgery. He was a limited participant in practice. It's possible Gronkowski returns to game action in either Week 3 or Week 4.

The Patriots also gave receiver Danny Amendola the doubtful designation. Amendola tweaked his groin against Buffalo, an injury he initially sustained during the preseason.

Injuries are already taking its toll in New England. The Patriots placed running back Shane Vereen on IR-designated to return with a wrist injury.

Running back Brandon Bolden (knee), receiver Aaron Dobson (hamstring), receiver Matthew Slater (knee), tight end Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) and running back Leon Washington (thigh) were listed as questionable.
