Patriots ruled out Gronkowski, Amendola, Davis promoted

The New England Patriots made it official, downgrading tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola from questionable to out.

Gronkowski is recovering from offseason forearm and back surgeries. Amendola has a groin injury.

Meanwhile, the Patriots have signed rookie safety Kanorris Davis to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

Davis joined the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Troy on May 3.

The 5-foot-10, 207-pounder was released on Aug. 31 and was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1. Davis played linebacker in college, where he helped Troy win Sun Belt Conference championships the past two years.
