The New England Patriots have signed veteran tight end Matthew Mulligan.
They also signed rookie offensive tackles Jordan Devey and R.J. Dill to the practice squad.
Mulligan, 28, has played for the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams.
He was with the Green Bay Packers in training camp this year.
Mulligan is primarily a blocking tight end at 6-foot-4, 267 pounds. He has played in 50 games with 20 starts and 14 catches for 144 yards and one touchdown.
He spent his first NFL season on the practice squad of Miami and Tennessee and then was claimed off waivers in 2009 by the Jets after being released by Tennessee during training camp.
"He's an experienced tight end that we've played against before," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "We'll put him in there in that group and see how it all comes together. He's had a lot of success blocking and he's a tough, physical player. But we'll see how it goes."
