The New England Patriots have signed former San Francisco 49ers sixth-round running back Thomas Clayton, the team announced.
Clayton played collegiately at Kansas State.
The 5-foot-11, 222-pounder spent 2007 and 2008 on the 49ers' practice squad. He was on injured reserve last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered during the preseason.
The Patriots also released former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Mike Teel, punter David King and wide receiver Bryan Anderson.
