Team is nearing a deal with free agent tight end Daniel Fells. Joe Fortenbaugh
The New England front office has been busy closing deals the last few days.
On Friday it was a brand-new, five-year $40 million extension for nose tackle Vince Wilfork. On Saturday, it was re-signing guard Stephen Neal to a two-year deal. And on Monday, the Pats got free agent cornerback Leigh Bodden back under contract.
So what’s next for New England?
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Patriots are closing in on a deal with free agent tight end Daniel Fells.
The 6’4”, 272-pound Fells caught 21 passes for 273 yards with three touchdowns in 2009 for the St. Louis Rams. A three-year veteran out of California-Davis, Fells is used primarily as a blocker.
