Report says Penny Hardaway, Justin Timberlake part of ownership group, too. Terry McCormick
Peyton Manning was offered a potential stake in the Tennessee Titans when Bud Adams was courting him this past spring to be his quarterback.
Now, according to a report from ESPN Radio in Memphis, and picked up by CBS Sports.com, Manning is staying in Tennessee, but switching sports by investing as a minority owner in the NBA Memphis Grizzlies.
The report says that Memphis native and former NBA star Penny Hardaway and singer Justin Timberlake are also part of the ownership group purchasing the franchise from Michael Heisley.
Athletes switching sports in the ownership realm is not unprecedented as earlier this year, retired NBA star Magic Johnson headed a group that bought baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers.
