Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning could miss the entire training camp and that leaves his status for a preseason game up in the air.
Coach Jim Caldwell wasn’t able to put a timetable on a return for Manning, who had offseason surgery May 23 to repair a bulging disc on his neck. He said Manning might not make it on the field with the team during training camp.
“Doing well, coming along. He's working extremely hard at it,” Caldwell said, according to the Indianapolis Star. “Doing all the little things that it requires to get him where he wants to be. I think you guys know as well as I do he's ready to go and will be out there because he is chomping at the bit, that's for certain.
"He's doing what the doctor is telling him to do, let's put it that way. He is going through his rehab, they have everything mapped out for him and they're adjusting as it goes so I think he is comfortable with the plan they have set for him."
Manning remains on the physically unable to perform list. He missed the entire preseason in 2008 after undergoing surgery to remove an infected bursa sac from his knee. He was noticeably lighter when the season opener. We’ll see how he looks when he comes back this time.
