San Diego native and three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson is aiming to put on a show Monday night at Qualcomm Stadium during halftime of the Denver Broncos-San Diego Chargers AFC West showdown.
More specifically, Mickelson will be aiming to win $1 million for charity.
One of the Tour’s most popular golfers, Mickelson will line up in one end zone and hit a 100-yard shot at a variety of targets located in the other. Depending upon which target Lefty hits, as much as $1 million will be donated to First Book—a non-profit organization dedicated to providing books to children in need—thanks to Mickelson sponsor KPMG.
With close to 70,000 people in attendance for Monday’s game, many of us—myself most definitely included—would likely buckle under the pressure and send a Titleist screaming into the stands at an alarming rate of speed.
But for a guy capable of hitting the following shot, Monday night should be a walk in the park for Mickelson.
