In what can only be a move to potentially attract viewership, the NFL will allow players to use their personal Twitter accounts during the Pro Bowl.
Darren Rovell os CNBC reports that in-game tweets will be allowed and there will be one designated area on each sideline for players to tweet up.
The all-star game will be played Sunday in Honolulu and the league has worked hard to increase the visibility of a game many fans don’t have interest in following. Allowing players to take to their cell phones and share their thoughts – in 140 characters or less – can’t hurt, not in the social media world we’re in these days.
Tweeting during every other NFL game is a no-no that comes with a hefty fine.
