Regardless of your political leanings or beliefs, it's not every day someone gets the opportunity to meet and greet a sitting President.

But Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard said Tuesday it is more important for him to take part in OTA work than to shake hands with President Obama.

Pollard said the Titans are trying to build an identity, and he would rather look forward to that goal than relish in the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl victory in February as a part of Wednesday's ceremony.

“First and foremost, I have practice with my teammates here. It’s no knock to any one of my (ex-) teammates. I think they understand it. I still talk to the guys and we all have great relationships. When it’s all said and done, this is my new team,” Pollard told TitanInsider.

Pollard, who signed with the Titans as a free agent in the off-season said he never considered asking Coach Mike Muncak for the day off.

“It’s just one of those things where you’ve got to make a decision, and my decision is made. It really is. My decision is made,” Pollard said. ”I embrace what we’ve done last year with winning the Super Bowl. It’s truly a blessing, but at the same time, we’re moving forward with OTAs, training camp and the practices. The season is not gonna stop for anybody.”

As for any other reason for not going, Pollard joked that there is too much controversy in Washington right now with the IRS and Benghazi situations.

“Dealing with the White House and everything that’s going on anyways, I don’t want to be there. I don’t want to be a part of Watergate II,” Pollard joked.
