President Obama applauds Michael Sam's decision

U.S. President Barack Obama is in Michael Sam's corner.

In an interview with TNT during the NBA All-Star game, Obama applauded the Missouri defensive end and co-defensive player of the year in the SEC for deciding to reveal he's publicly gay about two months before the NFL draft.

“I really like the fact that Michael did it before the draft,” Obama said, via political publication The Hill. “Because his attitude was, ‘You know what? I know who I am. I know I can play great football and judge me on the merits.’”
