The Carolina Panthers are on the hook for more than $12 million to Jake Delhomme, a quarterback who is no longer on the roster. The club is going to pass along that cost, at least in part, to the consumer.

The Panthers announced Friday that they are raising ticket prices for the 2010 season. Prices will be bumped up between $1 and $9 per seat. According to a report by Darin Gantt of the Rock Hill (S.C.) Herald, about half of the seats in the stadium will be limited to a raise of $3 or less.

This marks the eighth time in 11 years that the organization has raised ticket prices. With the Panthers going on a full-blown youth movement, they’ll need to get some young talent going to encourage fans to continue to plunk down hard-earned dollars for tickets.

Owner Jerry Richardson and GM Marty Hurney have cut about $30M in players' salaries and contracts so far. With a lame duck coach and a $12.5M mistake in Jake Delhomme's contract extension, we the fans are now being asked to pay for the front office mistakes and for an inferior product being put on the field. "Pay more for less."

I agree Anybodyhome. They raise the price after going 8-8? And cut players, bring NOBODY in, and give out stupid contracts? I know, I know, some of you are like quit complaining about $3 but some of us are not the Wine and Cheese crowd who gets FREE tickets anyways. Some of us fans flip burgers for minimum wage. Some of us clean toilets out for a living and live paycheck to paycheck. And if you add up $3 dollars to every person that goes in the stadium, it's well over $100,00 that's going in Mr. Richardson's pockets.

Hill proved himself to be a good man in his 9rs time. He handled the cards dealt him in a professional manor and put his best on the field. I feel confident that the same man will show up with the Lions. He is a credit to the breed.
