Raheem Morris expects decision on his future soon

Raheem Morris pledges that he will be back to work soon and said he expects a decision soon.

The former head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has interviewed with the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. The Redskins, according to Ira Kaufman’s report in the Tampa Tribune, essentially offered him a job. It’s believed Washington would name Morris the secondary coach and perhaps extend to him a title list assistant head coach. The Vikings talked to Morris about becoming their defensive coordinator even though Fred Pagac still officially is in that capacity.

“We should know something pretty soon because you can see jobs shaking out all over the league right now,” Morris said. “I'll be back somewhere next season. I'm not going to just stay at home – I don't have that in me. I'm a football coach and we do what we do.''

Morris admitted the move did not catch him by surprise, not after his team bottomed out, ending the 2011 season on a 10-game losing streak. Per the report, he was worried about his staff as the Bucs blew out the entire coaching staff, sending every man in search of work.

“That was the big concern for me,'' Morris said. "I wasn't worried about myself. This is the NFL and I know how things work when things don't go as planned. You can't be surprised in my profession, and I wasn't. You can't go in with blinders on. In the end, it's a business. I was just worried about my guys.''
