OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski left the game against the Washington Redskins with a knee injury and was replaced by JaMarcus Russell.
Gradkowski was hurt throwing a pass in the final seconds of the first half and was ruled out of the game Sunday at halftime. That opened the door for Russell to return, four weeks after being benched by coach Tom Cable.
Russell lost his job last month. He has completed just 46.8 percent of his passes this season, with nine interceptions and five lost fumbles. Russell was booed when he entered.
Oakland star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha also left in the third quarter with a right forearm injury. His return is questionable.

It clear for all to see that JaMarcus Russell is not a starting Quarterback in the NFL. He has not grasped the fundamentals of playing as an NFL QB. Once Gradowski left the game, I knew that it would be over the Raiders. The Oakland Raiders need to divorce themselves from JaMarcus as soon as the season ends. Based on his health/injury, Bruce Gradowski deserves a shot; he plays with more passion and knowledge of where he wants to throw than JaMarcus (who seems to run the same play-sidellne patters). Mr. Davis, go out and get a good veteran backup, sign Gradowski, trade/cut JaMarcus and begin to address the other needs of the team.
