Carson Palmer cost the Oakland Raiders a first and second-round pick when they acquired him from the Cincinnati Bengals two years ago.

On Tuesday, per Adam Schefter and multiple reports, the Arizona Cardinals plucked Palmer from the discount rack, giving up only a conditional 2014 seventh-round pick for a guy who figures to be their starting quarterback in 2013. There are also reports that the Cardinals have swapped a sixth-round pick this year for a seventh-rounder as part of the exchange.

If Palmer makes at least 13 starts for the Cardinals, then Arizona will owe Oakland the pick as compensation.

The Raiders obviously were eager to move on from Palmer whom they coaxed out of "retirement" after the quarterback refused to play again for the Bengals following the lockout in 2011.
