The St. Louis Rams were awful pretty much everywhere on defense last season.
They might take Sam Bradford with the No. 1 pick in the draft, but they could sure use one of the defensive tackles being mentioned at the top of the draft. And, boy, could they use some help at linebacker.
Rookie James Laurinaitis had a decent season for St. Louis but it was a band of misfits that was around him for the most part. The Rams are considering signing a well-traveled veteran to come on board. Na’il Diggs is in the mix for a contract after visiting the team last Friday, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Diggs could be brought in to replace Paris Lenon, who signed on with the Arizona Cardinals on Monday. It’s nothing exciting for the Rams, but after the release of Chris Draft last year and the subsequent trade of Will Witherspoon, well, the cupboard is pretty bare. Diggs has a tie-in too. He played in Carolina where Ken Flajole was the linebackers coach and now Flajole runs the defense in St. Louis for Steve Spagnuolo.

I actually thought he would be a better fit in an elephant role in a 3-4, but the eagles attacking D should still be a solid fit for him.
