Rams whittle their way down to 53

The St. Louis Rams are probably not done working over their roster, but they got down to 53 today by trimming a couple notable players.

Rookie wide receiver Danario Alexander, a star at Missouri last season who has been plagued by knee problems, was waived. The team also lunahced cornerback Quincy Butler, who started half of the games last season, and former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bobby Carpenter, who didn’t work out after coming over to the Rams.

The cuts also included: QB Keith Null, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, FB Dennis Morris, WR’s Jordan Kent and Brandon McRae, TE Darcy Johnson, OL Roger Allen, Tim Mattran, Ryan McKee, Drew Miller, DE Victor Adeyanju, DT Ernest Reid, LB’s Devin Bishop and Cardia Jackson, CBs Quincy Butler, Marquis Johnson, Antoine Thompson and S Brett Johnson. Safety Kevin Paune and offensive lineman Eric Young were placed on injured reserve.
