Idea not as far-fetched as you might think Brad Biggs
Randy Moss rarely talks with microphones in front of him.
He turned it on at Media Day today from the Superdome as he prepares for Super Bowl XLVII with the San Francisco 49ers.
“I do think I'm the greatest receiver ever to play this game,” Moss said.
Naturally, the Twitter world immediately scoffed at the suggestion by Moss, who was pretty much just a role player for the Niners this season. But before you completely dismiss the suggestion by Moss, consider some information our friend Kevin Seifert over at ESPN’s NFC North blog put out there:
“Jerry Rice caught 567 more passes for 7,603 more yards than Randy Moss has. Rice has a 14-TD advantage. Rice played 20 seasons, Moss in 14th.”
Seifert also points out that Rice put up his amazing numbers playing with Joe Montana and Steve Young for the majority of his career. Moss played with some good quarterbacks and a great one for a brief while with the New England Patriots in Tom Brady. But Rice was consistently with better quarterbacks in better offenses.
And, in case you were wondering, Moss was asked about the Manti Te’o situation also.
“"If I ever had an imaginary girlfriend, I never told anybody about it,” he said.
