Patriots wide receiver looking for new representation Aaron Wilson
New England Patriots star wide receiver Randy Moss' name has disappeared from the official NFL Players Association list of active players and who represents them.
A clerical error? Hardly.
It means that Moss, as first noted by Pro Football Talk, has terminated the services of his agent, Tim DiPiero, as he heads into the final year of his contract in New England.
Moss, who's scheduled to make $6.4 million in terms of his base salary this season, had been represented by DiPiero ever since entering the NFL in 1998.
Who will Moss be hiring to represent him?
Hard to say, but players typically don't fire their agent unless they have another one in mind before the five-day waiting period mandated by NFLPA rules governing agent changes.
DiPiero once represented Moss with Dante DiTrapano, who has had serious drug problems and has served time in jail.
Moss will undoubtedly be pursued by multiple agent firms, large and small.
What remains unclear is whether a change in representation will get Moss what he wants: a long-term contract extension.
This isn't the only high-profile agent switch recently with Miami Dolphins first-round defensive lineman Jared Odrick moving on from All-Pro Sports & Entertainment and going with Drew Rosenhaus.
Since the end of NFL draft, there have been plenty of other changes.
Among the several moves: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, Dolphins defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, Jacksonsville Jaguars offensive guard Justin Smiley and Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Ray Willis all hired Rosenhaus, Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker hired Kennard McGuire and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Shawntae Spencer hired David Dunn.
