The Baltimore Ravens have told former Pro Bowl tight end Todd Heap that he'll be released.
General manager Ozzie Newsome gave Heap the bad news today, according to a league source.
Heap's pending release would save $4.6 million.
The Ravens drafted Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta last year.
Dickson seems to have the capability of becoming a full-time starter.
Heap was entering the final year of his contract.
