The Baltimore Ravens defense, which has already been thinned out by injuries, took another blow on Thursday when it was revealed that cornerback Jimmy Smith had undergone groin surgery.
The Ravens' 2011 first-round pick will miss several weeks, according to the Baltimore Sun, but the club is hopeful he can return before the end of the season.
Baltimore has already lost cornerback Lardarius Webb to a knee injury for the season and linebacker Ray Lewis is out wiht a torn triceps.
