The Baltimore Ravens announced the release of veteran tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, whom they brought in after Dennis Pitta suffered a season-ending hip injury that required surgery.

Shiancoe, 33, who has played for the Giants, Vikings and Patiots had his contract terminated, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Other players let go by the Ravens who have to pass through waivers included running back Damien Berry, receiver Rashaad Carter, guard Jack Cornell, linebacker Bryan Hall, guard Ramon Harewood, tackle David Mims, defensive back Moe Lee, defensive end Will Pericak, receiver Gerrard Sheppard and linebacker Meshak Williams.

In addition, Baltimore signed quarterback Dayne Crist and placed linebacker Adrian Hamilton on injured reserve.
