OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle is in stable condition with a head injury after falling down two flights of stairs in Austin, Texas.

The second-round draft pick is at University Medical Center Brackenridge.

The unsigned former Longhorns star won't be reporting this week for training camp as he recovers from his injury.

“Members of our medical staff, including Bill Tessendorf and Dr. Andy Tucker, have spoken with doctors in Texas. We understand Sergio is stable at this time and that he is being tested and observed,” Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said in a statement.

Kindle's father, Johnny Walker, told National Football Post in a telephone interview: "Sergio feels like he has had bad luck all his life."

Meanwhile, Kindle's contract isn't expected to be signed until at least a few more days.

No deal is imminent.

With a father named Johnny Walker, it's no surprise he falls down stairs.

unless you him or his family you need to keep your F@#$ mouth shut. He is a great guy and doesnt need people like you coming down on him. Unless you walk in one mans shoes you can not talk about him that way. Clean your back yard before you talk about someone else.

Wow. Lots of anger on here against some good observations. I too thought the father's name was fitting given the circumstances and I was baffled by the fall down the second flight of stairs. Did he have to fall down one flight, make the U-shaped turn and proceed down the next flight? Maybe I am picturing it all wrong. I hope the guy is okay after all that he has been through, but walking in his shoes doesn't seem like a great idea given all that has happened in them. Also, I am confused as to why my backyard must be clean before I can comment on the actions made by anyone that is with shoes or otherwise.

I tried walking in his shoes.... I fell down.

If his blood alcohol level comes back all John Daly BEFORE he's signed his contract, AND he did real damage to himself it is a poor negotiating ploy.

Sergio's father's name has nothing to do with what happened. It doesn't taken much of an opening to get the cheap shot artists to fire away.Thank God this is not a court case. Sergio has been judged and convicted with no facts known. What does it take to get a fair deal among people who are quick to condemn. First we have the Ed Reed assassins and now the Kindle Krusifiction before camp even opens. The Ravens may be Super Bowl bound and ready but their fans leave a lot to be desired.Let's wait for the facts to come out......isn't that always best, fellas?"We may have a situation where the reactionary fans ruin the teams chances for the SB.by creating an unhappy locker room.Let's cool it and enjoy the season.

This moron has brought so much negative publicity for himself, the University of Texas, and the Baltimore Ravens without even signing his first NFL contract. Two main reasons why Kindle fell in the draft to the second round was 1. possibly needing mirco fracture sugery and 2. getting drunk one night crushing his car into a building or house and leave the scene of an accident. Now if it comes out the he was drunk at the time he fell down two flights of stairs (which is an incredible feat if you ask me) this could all but end his career before it even starts. Also @ pissoffmom - Kindle is the one putting himself in these situations, he decides the path he takes and if you're dump enough to keep pissing your life away, he deserves everything bad that happens to him, it's called Karma.

You people that get all angry over comments on the internet crack me up. You probably should refrain from reading internet message boards and comment sections.... it will never go away and never end.

Are comments always in good taste ? No... but oh well. Most are funny as hell and it is indeed very puzzling over why this player had this accident.

pissoffmom - please don't listen to these jerkoffs it seems Sergio could be your son and if someone trashed my sons I would get fired up also. There will be these kind of people and their comments all through his career you have have to laugh at them cause there jerks and have no life. This is how they get off. Good Luck and wish Sergio the best. Tell him that if he feels he has bad luck then take a deep look at himself and change what needs to be changed. Ray Lewis will help him he will need to follow him. Remember laugh at the idiots they will never go away.

2007: Kindle was arrested in late July on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop, police said. The sophomore was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. after failing a field sobriety test, according to Austin police. He was later released from Travis County Jail. He was suspended for the first three games by head coach Mack Brown. He was held out of the first couple of days of fall practice in order to visit with a woman whose child was crippled by a drunk driver, Brown said. He did not identify the woman. Kindle also had to perform some form of community service on behalf of the team before they he was allowed to play. "I think we've got to send a message and kids have to learn," Brown said. "It is a good opportunity for our football team to step up and talk about how serious we feel about drinking and driving."

2009: On June 24, Kindle ran his car into an Austin, Texas, building and left the scene of the accident, according to his attorney. Kindle hit his head during the wreck and suffered a concussion when he ran off the street and into a West Campus residence early Wednesday morning, the Austin American-Statesman has reported. "He knew he was hurt at the time and that he needed to go home and go to bed," Brian Roark, Kindle's lawyer, told the newspaper. Roark said the incident occurred at 2:50 a.m. ET and that Kindle was probably text messaging before the accident, the American-Statesman reported. According to witnesses, Kindle and several occupants got out of the car and pushed it out of the residence and down the road before abandoning it, police said. Roark said Kindle contacted the apartment's management Thursday when he woke up, according to the report. Police said the accident was under investigation and no charges had been filed. Texas law doesn't appear to cover leaving the scene of accidents resulting in damage to buildings. According to the state's transportation code, a driver who fails to leave a note at the scene providing the name of the operator, owner of the car and circumstances of a collision with an unattended vehicle faces a Class C misdemeanor if the damage is less than $200, a Class B misdemeanor if it is more. A statement from the apartment's management company estimated the damages to the exterior wall of the building at $8,700, the newspaper reported … A remorseful Sergio Kindle told reporters at the Big Twelve Conference media days that he learned a valuable lesson last month after crashing his car into an Austin apartment building while he was text messaging. Kindle said that Texas head coach Mack Brown has already taken disciplinary action vs. him, but declined to provide specifics. The punishment, Kindle said, will not include suspensions from either games or practices. "There were some disciplinarian things," Kindle told Inside Texas, "but I'd rather not talk about them." Kindle said the June 24 accident was a wake-up call to him that he said will help build his responsibility in the future. He has spent most of the past few weeks trying to rebuild his credibility with teammates. No charges have been filed vs. Kindle because of the accident. Kindle told reporters he wasn't drinking at the time of the crash. He sustained a concussion and was treated by team doctors the following day. Brown said that he plans to lecture his team in the next several days about the perils of texting while driving. "I know I've done it," Brown said. "I've got to quit checking my messages when I'm at stop signs."

LOL. Firstly, how can you have so much hate for someone you have never met, and only know based on biased media drool? Oh, wait. You're an average tool, congrats.

Secondly, he is a 24/25 year old male. What do you expect? You mean to tell me that you have NEVER made a mistake in getting drunk or while you were drunk? Yeah, you're full of shit. He's a young man, and was doing what most young men do ALL the time. Except he was also breaking records, getting into the NFL draft, leading the league in sacks, donating time to charity, and oh yeah, just being an overall terror on the field. Not to mention going to school.

Thirdly, let's revamp the timeline....
2007- Sergio arrested driving drunk.
2007- You, sitting at your desk, making 40-60k tops

2009-Sergio wrecks his car into a building
2009-You, still sitting there.

2011-Sergio is a millionaire
2011- You, still waiting for that promotion.

But he's the loser right? Whatever you have to tell yourself to make selling your soul for $14 an hour acceptable.

Instead of parusing messageboards looking for people to judge, perhaps you could do something productive, like find a new job.

As for this: "Kindle is the one putting himself in these situations, he decides the path he takes and if you're dump enough to keep pissing your life away, he deserves everything bad that happens to him, it's called Karma."

While we would all like to think that we control our own destiny and all that hollywood bullshit, there are ALWAYS extenuating circumstances. As for pissing a life away, I would recommend going to the bathroom, and taking a good long look at whomever appears in the mirror. Because while this "loser" is going to be an inspiration to children everywhere to better themselves (due to and despite mistakes), you are inspiration to no one.

Except of course yourself.

Sergio does have bad luck. This accident is going to cost him a lot of money. What incentive do the Ravens have to sign him quickly now.

Sterling sliver jewelry, particularly bracelets, is a staple of fashionable women everywhere. This type of pandora beads is durable yet so beautiful. The versatility is outstanding; it goes with every outfit whether with jeans or with a designer gown. For instance, movie star Sandra Bullock wore a silver cuff bracelet to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards in May 2009. A silver cuff bracelet makes an audacious statement, yet it is lightweight and is flexible so that it can fit a variety of wrist sizes. Another popular type of bracelets is the silver charm bracelet. There are many shapes and designs for the charms that are attached to the bracelet.

I wish him only the best. Get well, young man.
This stuff happens, didn't cause Terrell Davis to retire, as that actually was the knee injury he sustained while tackling a Jet on an INT - that being said he was always and the donkeys cognizant of this issue with Daivs as well...migraines and nuerological problems are real for damn sure and don't make an NFL players life any easier - and seriously "karma" - give it a rest already - Favre's not the devil, hasn't been sighted hanging with Lucifer or sacrificying any virgins - well lately anyway - that was the "before PG Favre" that's marketed for mass consumption...
