OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens plan to sign former Carolina Panthers quarterback Hunter Cantwell.
Cantwell was cut by Carolina on Saturday.
A second-year player from Louisville who was on the Panthers' practice squad last season until December when he was promoted when Jake Delhomme was placed on injured reserve, Cantwell is a strong-armed 6-foot-4, 236-pounder.
He'll give the Ravens a third quarterback after they cut former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith on Saturday.
At Louisville, Cantwell was a walk-on who backed up Brian Brohm for three seasons before getting his chance as a senior. He passed for 2,493 yards and 16 touchdowns.
