Ray Edwards cleared waivers this afternoon and that’s not surprising given his contract called for him to be paid the pro-rated amount of $3 million for the remainder of the season.
That’s a big chunk of change for an underperforming defensive end that the Atlanta Falcons dumped after 1 ½ seasons and roughly $11 million. Now, Edwards is an unrestricted free agent.
Edwards had 3 ½ sacks in 25 games for the Falcons after starring opposite Jared Allen with the Minnesota Vikings. He could get a look somewhere but it’s more than likely he’ll be staring a deal for the minimum at this point.
