Redskins' Hankerson placed on injured reserve, has knee surgery
Washington Redskins wide receiver Leonard Hankerson is out for the season and underwent surgery to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament damage in his left knee.
Hankerson is being replaced in the starting lineup by Josh Morgan.
A former third-round draft pick, Hankerson has 30 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season, Hankerson missed part of the season with a torn labrum in his hip.
Hankerson is expected to need seven to nine months to recover from the injury.
Lance Lewis was promoted from the practice squad.
