Redskins check out veteran CB Quentin Jammer

The Washington Redskins failed in their bid to land Antoine Winfield earlier this month and now they are at least exploring another veteran defensive back.

The team hosted Quentin Jammer for a visit on Sunday night, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, but it’s unclear it didn’t appear the team was in a rush to sign him.

Jammer has spent his entire career – 11 seasons – with the San Diego Chargers. The Redskins need more experience in the secondary but the extreme salary cap penalty the club is dealing with has made player acquisitions difficult.

According to the report, Washington might consider switching Jammer from cornerback to safety. It’s also possible he could be considered a component for the team’s nickel defense.
