Joey Galloway might have reached the end of the line.
The Washington Redskins have placed the veteran wide receiver on waivers this afternoon, ending his run with the club. They used the roster spot to promote rookie wide receiver Terrence Austin from the practice squad. Austin was a seventh-round draft pick from UCLA, and the team deemed the time had come to give him a shot.
Galloway made 12 receptions for 173 yards in 10 games. The Redskins were the fifth team in Galloway’s 16 seasons. He has 701 career receptions for 10,950 yards and 77 touchdowns. Galloway played in only three games for the New England Patriots last season. In his prime, he was considered one of the best vertical threats in the league.
