More than a year after the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal broke, players are fighting amongst themselves now.
Yes, it’s come to that.
That is because defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove, suspended for his role in the scandal by the NFL, has accused teammate Remi Ayodele of infamously saying, “Pay me the money!” on the sideline during the 2009 NFC Championship Game and following a hit on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre.
Hargrove, who has previously been attributed with saying that, said it was Ayodele in an appearance on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.” Now, Ayodele is firing back, according to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Ayodele took to Twitter and came out swinging at Hargrove.
“OMG just heard about Hargrove on outside the line lmfao REALLY kid u that broke?? I'm the reason u missed a whole year?? … get real kid ur done I said NOTHING nobody on the team did I'm still trying to figure out this bounty what's he talking bout?”
“Hey Hargrove if you need a job hit me up on my Facebook, Instagram, or my twitter lol I'm hiring right now as we speak … Next time you play football for 8 years put a Lil money up for a rainy day.. But as we can tell you did NOT.,”
“All I remember from that year was playing for a great defensive coordinator, play hard hard football, winning NFC Championship, … And winning a Super Bowl for the New Orleans best year of my Damn life!! Hey Hargrove get real kid.”
Perhaps Hargrove will fire back. Who knows? Eventually, one day, the whole thing will die down. Apparently not any time soon, though.
