Report: Bucs could wind up keeping Eric Wright

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not pull off a trade for Darrelle Revis before the draft, a deal that has been rumored for seemingly ever now, maybe Eric Wright will return in 2013.

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Bay Tribune floats that very idea as he points out the market of available veteran options right now is razor thin. The Bucs overpaid to sign Wright a year ago and then he wound up serving a four-game suspension for violation of the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs. He reportedly was zapped for taking Adderall.

“He has been a reliable player,’’ Bucs coach Greg Schiano said, according to Cummings.

“He had some things that kind of tripped him up (last year), but he has been reliable — not only here but in other places where coaches on our staff have been with him. If I didn’t feel there was good there, we would have already separated from him, but there is good there.’’

Whether Wright remains probably depends on whether or not the Bucs believe they can attain “better” at a reasonable price. They would have to pay Revis substantially more and then there is the cost of acquiring him in a trade to consider as well.
