Report: Byrd wants Weddle, Goldson money

It is beginning to look like Buffalo Bills franchised safety Jairus Byrd will be playing for the $6.9 million franchise tag.

Per WGR 550-AM, no talks are going on between Byrd's representative, Eugene Parker, and the Bills front office as the negotiating window closes on Monday.</p>

"I would be completely and utterly shocked if there was a deal done by Monday," a source told the station. "There are no talks going on. Someone would have to seriously cave."

Apparently, per the source, Byrd wants money similar to what Eric Weddle and Dashon Goldson have received in their new deals. Both Weddle and Goldson signed five-year contracts. Weddle's is worth $40 million with $19 million guaranteed, while Goldson received $41.25 mill with $22 million in guarantees.

"The reason why Byrd is getting tagged is for the simple fact that they just can't get a deal done," said another league source. "From what I understand, they're pushing for numbers in and around what Eric Weddle is at and also keeping the Dashon Goldson deal in to perspective as well."
