Veteran defenders project to be backups Brad Biggs
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to re-sign veteran defensive players Clark Haggans and Vonnie Holliday.
But Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports the deals aren’t imminent. The players are waiting to see if anything else is out there for them and the club, right up against the salary-cap limit, is being deliberate. If the team can work out a long-term extension for defensive end Calais Campbell, who received the franchise tag, it could clear significant cap space.
Haggans started 16 games at outside linebacker last season and would have to return as a backup with a significant pay cut. Holliday appeared in all 16 games as a reserve last season and would play a similar role on the defensive line.
