That didn’t take long.
Perry Fewell has made the decision to become the next defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
That leaves the Chicago Bears in a lurch as they look for their third defensive coordinator in as many seasons. Fewell had interviewed with the Bears on Monday and was the leading candidate for the job. Actually, he is the only identified candidate to this point.
Now, coach Lovie Smith will need to seek other options on defense while the team continues the process of seeking an offensive coordinator and three position coaches for the offensive side of things.
Fewell was the top choice of the Giants to replace Bill Sheridan. He worked with coach Tom Coughlin previously in Jacksonville.
