The Washington Redskins may need to find someone else to stand in for defensive coordinator Greg Blache at his weekly press conferences that have been run by secondary coach Jerry Gray.

Gray is expected to be named the head coach at Memphis University, and if he leaves his NFL post early to take over the college job, it will leave Washington shorthanded. Gray has been speaking in Blache’s place since the veteran coach stopped holding weekly press conferences in October.

Gray reportedly has beat out LSU running backs coach Larry Porter for the job. Porter played at Memphis. Joe Schad of ESPN reports that former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs supported Gray’s bid to get the job.

Anyone on the Redskins coaching staff that gets an outside offer better jump on it. None of that staff will be back after the house cleaning that will take place at the conclusion of this season.

Good for him, but a blow to the 'Skins!
