Spencer Havner’s painful motorcycle accident has become more troublesome as the Green Bay Packers tight end has been charged with DUI, according to Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Havner wiped out on his motorcycle and suffered a broken scapula, an injury that his agents said is minor and will heal quickly. But his agent was adamant that Havner had nott been charged with driving under the incluence. Now, he has and as Bedard reports it is up the prosecutor at this point to see where the case leads.

The bottom line here is motorcycles are dangerous for athletes. Look no further than Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger or Chicago Bulls guard Jay Williams for examples. Williams’ career ended following a motorcycle wipeout. Drinking and biking? That’s a recipe for disaster and Havner is fortunate he was not more seriously injured. The legal process follows.

I actually thought he would be a better fit in an elephant role in a 3-4, but the eagles attacking D should still be a solid fit for him.
